学名：Pieris japonica 和名：アセビ（馬酔木）

葉や茎には、有毒のアセトポキシンが含まれているため、馬が食べると毒にあたって酔ったようにふらふらとした足取りになることから、漢名で馬酔木（アセビ）と書かれるようになったとされます。

Since the leaves and stems contain toxic acetopoxin, it is said that the horse's name has come to be written as a sick tree (Acebi) because it would be drunkenly fluttered footsteps when the horse eats.
