かえるまた池　柳

蛙股池は、一説には「日本最古のダム」という表現で紹介されることがあり、そ

の築造を西暦162年に求める説がある一方で、『日本書紀』によれば推古天皇15

（607）年に倭に「高市池・藤原池・肩岡池・菅原池」を作るとの記述があり、

その「菅原池」を蛙股池とする説がある他、「奈良町風土記」では「行基が作っ

たとも伝えられている（不詳）」と記されており、その由来には様々な可能性が

残されています。
